Shoot him in the head and you are done. Smash the box by the subway map for some plasters. An injured person is close. Smash the bin for a first aid kit before you help him. Rescue Jack Cornysh This man's leg is trapped underneath a large piece of rubble. Tap the A button repeatedly to build up strength before you swing both the Wii Remote and Nunchuck simultaneously upwards to lift the rubble up, allowing Jack to escape.
Let's move along the platform, smashing the two bins to the left for survival points and ammo. Smash the next bin for more survival points before you enter the crashed train. Kill him!
You then walk over to the entrance through which you entered the train. Four more enemies will burst in, allowing you to pop at their heads with your handgun. You then retreat to the other end of the train when more enemies appear. Take them out and you are finished. You then hear another radio broadcast. The entire city is in panic and many fires have broken out.
Many buildings have collapsed and the emergency services are immobilised. Try opening the nearest door to your left to find it locked. The key is somewhere in this station, so let's continue along the platform. The ceiling ahead of you will collapse, filling the intermediate area with smoke. Sprint past the smoke and call out to people. You should turn around, finding another victim in the subway carriage there.
Rescue Jim Tait This guy is slightly injured. Give him some plasters and he will be fine. Exit the carriage and continue along the platform into the next crashed carriage. As you walk through it, an explosion occurs to the right, setting parts of the ground on fire.
Run through the flames and rid your body of them. Exit the carriage through a door to the left at the other end. Look to your left to find a bin beyond some flames. Smash it for an ammo refill. There is another door that can be opened in this part of the platform. Open it for a control room. The other door cannot be opened because it is blocked by rubble. Get the Station Key from the key rack and make your way back to the door that was previously locked. Unlock the door and pass through the room through the door at the other side.
Look to your left on this platform to find another person in need of assistance beyond more flames. Rescue Monica Halford Monica has injured her right leg.
Wash the dirt off and quickly bandage the wound to save her. Run through the flames and exit the carriage. Smash the bin on this part of the platform for a spare rib. Enter the next carriage and exit through the door at the other end to get on the subway tracks. You are going to exit the tunnel soon, but some SURGE members appear on the scene, forcing their way through the previous blocked door.
Don't let him escape! You will find two enemies popping out of the rubble at the edge of the platform. Kill those two and you will look into the control room room, where two enemies will pop out. Another will attempt to flee through the door at the other end of the storeroom, so try to kill him before he can flee. That is your only chance. A burly guy then rushes out with a rocket launcher, so zoom in and take him out fast. Run through the tunnel and you will eventually emerge outdoors.
Run along the tracks until you reach a set of steps to your left. Stay on the tracks for now and run through the flames ahead. You will find another person in need of help on the ground. The boxes near her contains survival points and crackers. Rescue Diane O'Hare This woman is starving, so give her crackers to eat. However, since she is still weak, give her a tube of Staminas 30 to reenergise her! Your life bar will be lengthened as a reward. Climb those steps to find another set of stairs.
Smash the two oil drums beneath the stairs for a can of soda and ammo. Now, let's climb up the stairs for the next scene, involving the Mayor of the city.
As the citizens panic and flee around him, the Mayor is trying to save a citizen trapped by rubble, lifting them piece by piece.
Don't have to worry about me, save yourself if you must. Ray then approaches the Mayor, who is still struggling with the rubble. Rescue Frederick Durnell You need to coordinate with the Mayor for this task. The Mayor will count to three and you will be prompted to press the Z button soon after he says "Three". Press the button and tap the A button repeatedly to build up your strength.
Once you have maxed out your power, swing the Wii Remote and Nunchuck simultaneously upwards to remove the first piece of rubble. The Mayor then tells you to lift up the next piece of rubble while he pulls the victim out. Press the Z button soon after he has counted to three and build up your strength as before. Swing the Wii Remote and Nunchuck upwards when you have done so to save Frederick. After Frederick is saved, the Mayor says, "You're save now.
Just relax. I'm after an armed group. For some reason they're deploying troops into the city. This man will be in danger if he stays with me. You need to get out of here, now. You get to West Park as fast as you can.! Ray surveys the area, noticing the fire everywhere. Notice the fire hose?
You will need it later. Run along this street to find a burning building. Before you approach it, go left and smash the two oil drums at the corner for a slice of water melon and survival points. Go right and you will be called by a fireman inside the building. Press the A button to talk to him. He asks you to help put out the fire in the building. You will have to get the hose from the hydrant you have seen just now. Plug the hose into the fire engine to start fighting the fire! Rescue Rachel Camden Move the cursor, a red circle, on the screen to aim the fire hose.
Press and hold the B button to spray water out. Aim at a burning window and start spraying water at it. You will know the fire is put out when the red circle cursor turns green.
As you put out a fire, other windows may be set on fire, so hurry. Keep putting out fires until they are all out to rescue the trapped girl. This rescue nets you survival points, the most I have seen so far. Now, turn to your right to find the entrance steps of a building.
Run onto the steps to find three boxes with a can of soda, survival points and a packet of plasters inside. Continue along the road to find another fire breaking out in a building to the left. A radio broadcast then tells you that fires have broken out all over the city and they are spreading fast due to strong winds fanning the flames.
Bear right along the road and smash through the obstacles to the right of that overturned truck. You will be attacked by two Humvees! A Humvee usually attacks with its machine guns and occasionally rockets. In addition, the driver may attempt to run you over.
Take out the shotgun and stay hidden most of the time, only popping out to shoot down any rockets that are sent your way. Whenever a Humvee tries to run you over, it will momentarily disappear from the screen. Sometimes, the Humvee will pause for a short time after reappearing and a special target will appear on it. Zoom in and shoot the target with your shotgun to deal heavy damage to this armoured vehicle before you go back into hiding. This is going to be a long battle of attrition where you intercept all rockets they launch at you, waiting for the special targets so you can fire a single shot at each one whenever they appear.
You should be able to destroy one Humvee and severely damage the second by the time you run out of shotgun ammo. You can now finish off the remaining Humvee with your assault rifle.
After the battle, Ray finds himself surrounded by flames. He finds a white car in a car park that can be used to make his escape. A countdown timer will start. You have 1 minute to get into the car.
Enter the car park, smashing through the obstacles for survival points. Two oil drums can also be found there. They may be hard to break, but they reward you with survival points as well as a roasted rat on a stick.
Enter the car and you can start it up. Here it is! Got to think quick or I'll get charred! Not much time left! The heat of the flames causes the windscreen to crack! You are prompted to swing the Wii Remote downwards. You piece of Now that's what I'm talking about! Now, if you have followed my strategy, you should have got an E for the battle time, haha. But still, you receive the ticket to the beginner shooting range.
Start with the handgun and shoot the targets in front of you in the head. Three targets then appear further back, packed together. Whip out your shotgun, zoom in and take them all out with one blast. Two targets then appear, followed by three more. All of these can be easily destroyed with your handgun. Two moving targets then appear, one near and one far away. These targets move left and right, so aim carefully.
Another stationary target then appears to the right, along with two diagonally moving targets to the left. Shoot them all and you have completed the shooting range. Three types of bonus points are awarded in this shooting range. You get BP for destroying all targets, BP per second taken less than the target time to complete this challenge and BP if none of your shots miss. If you perform well, expect to be awarded more than battle points from this shooting range, which is equal to a net gain of BP.
If you are stubborn enough, you can always keep playing this range again and again to gain more battle points to upgrade your weapons. I wouldn't recommend it though. Spend another BP to upgrade the accuracy to the third level. This weapon will now have an attack power of 12x8, a magazine capacity of 5 and an accuracy of D.
A magnitude 9 earthquake there would send an enormous tsunami crashing into the US mainland, making it an almost unique epicentre. Recent research has revealed that such an earthquake occurred on the 26th of January, It is said that the tsunami caused by that earthquake reached Japan, on the other side of the ocean.
Mayor Townsend 61 years old. Mayor of Blue Ridge City. Successful in economic development and in dealing with issues of public order, he is an uncommonly enthusiastic politician who is very popular with the people. His enthusiasm, however, has been known to boil over into recklessness, and his secretary is constantly concerned for him.
A burning tree collapses behind Ray a few moments after he has entered the park, trapping him in. Run up the stairs to find fire burning everywhere.
Let's explore the park in an anticlockwise direction. There is nothing to be found in that small path to the right, which leads back to the main part of the park. There should be a wooden box to your left when you return to the main area. Smash it for a hamburger. Run past the mother and daughter and you will reach the park gate, where a number of people have gathered. Don't go near them yet, though. Continue in an anticlockwise direction to find a rubbish bin, which can be smashed for a tube of Staminas You then come to a public restroom, where someone has locked himself in.
Smash the bin to the left for more Staminas Talk to the people standing near the collapsed bridge before going over to the park gate. Suddenly, a scream is heard, followed by a whoosh. A civilian exclaims, "Look at that! If we stay here, we are dead!
Help me clear this away! Ray continues, "Come on people! We either work together, or burn together! Since it's so hot around you, your stamina bar will drop much quicker than usual.
Use some Staminas 30 to keep it from dropping. Let's move in an anticlockwise direction. Fires are burning everywhere, so sprint through them quickly. The guy who's locked himself in the restroom won't budge. Go to the left of the restroom building, jump up and pull Ray up to the top. Talk to the parkie there and he will help. Drop back down and smash the small piece of rubble opposite the locked door for some survival points. Meanwhile, Townsend tells people to gather at the park gate to help him move the rubble over the public address system.
Continue in an anticlockwise direction until you see a woman in need of help. Talking to her is no use since she won't move. Run through the flames in an anticlockwise direction until you see two people by a bench. Talk to them and they will help, giving you a first aid kit as well.
Ray then thinks that he has enough people to move the bus. Another says, "I'm gonna help out too! The woman tells you that her brother is missing. Go over to the restroom and try opening the door again. The man will come out once you tell him about his sister. You now have to go find his sister again. Talk to her and she will head to the bus as well.
Pick up the first aid kit she's left behind before entering the side path from the other end. It seems that a car has just fallen into the middle of the path. Someone's trapped behind it. Smash the objects to the right of the car for a hamburger and a first aid kit. It's the mother and daughter you have met just now. Talk to them and the mother will help out as well. You now have enough people.
The man arrives at the park entrance and says, "The mayor is right! Let's do this! You and the others will slowly push the bus out of the way, netting you survival points in the process. You have beaten this level and it's a guaranteed S rank, assuming that you haven't been badly burnt by the flames. You won't gain any battle points from this battle. In addition, I'm sure that you won't have gathered over survival points for the firearms upgrade yet.
Therefore, don't bother to upgrade your skills yet. There is one new Disaster File for you to read though. As the name suggests, swirling winds accompany fires, causing great damage.
At the centre of the storm are violent fires, swirling around at tens of metres per second. Getting caught in a firestorm can cause damage to respiratory organs, and even death. The Mayor says, "I hear cheering, thank you everyone! Now hurry, get out of there before Is this the end? Get out! Move people! It's not safe here. Get out. Mayor" before leaving himself. The time now is AM. Colonel Haynes and his men have arrived at an abandoned geothermal power station. President" "Patch it through.
Haynes appears on the screen. Haynes says, "This is Haynes, commander of the special forces unit. Have you confirmed our acquisition of the nuclear warheads? First, you will prepare million dollars.
Second, the honour of us who were branded as traitors will be restored by allowing public access to classified files and exposing the truth.
If you do not comply with our demands, we will detonate somewhere in the United States. Do you understand? President," Haynes asks again, "Do you understand? The president replies, "Colonel Haynes, you know perfectly well how we are going to respond to these threats, and you know what preparations we made. When we deploy the Nuclear Emergency Search Team The president slumps on his chair and sighs, "This is going to be a very long day.
Demanding money? If we've sent out a warning, we could have saved so many lives! Major Evans replies, "True, it was all thanks to you that we have advance warning of a major earthquake. However, you didn't predict it would happen today, did you? At the very least, you'd predicted that we have a bit more time. SURGE is not a weather forecaster! Would that have been a better course of action? That's militants, I tell you, so fickle! Ray looks out at the sea to discover an incoming tsunami.
It's not hard to drive along this straight bridge, just watch out for all the stopped vehicles, as well as the explosives one of the SURGE vans throw at you. You will be fine as long as you keep a certain distance from them. Gordon speaks to the HQ, "This is ground unit Alpha, we have encountered hostiles! We are engaging. Evans replies, "Evans here, a tsunami is approaching your location. Deal with the hostiles quickly and don't you dare lose that warhead!
Ray yells, "Where's Lisa? Why have you taken her? I thought you were after the nukes! Gordon continues, "Now don't you worry boy, she's with the colonel in a nice safe place, and we have no intention of harming her. Just go back where you came from, and we won't have to put any holes in you! I made a promise. Just don't bother with Gordon until his minions are all killed. There will be a tense standoff between you and Gordon after he's the only left.
Gordon points to the tsunami and says, "Look at that! See that? Five minutes, kid. Five minutes until that tsunami hits here.
We got that long to settle this. Gordon only cares about killing you, regardless of whether he will drown. This guy attacks with his handgun, shooting continuously until he's emptied his clip.
Stay hidden until he starts running to the right or left, popping out when he's hidden. Zoom in on Gordon and blast him once or twice with the shotgun when he reappears, before hiding again. During this fight, Gordon tells you the pride SURGE takes on its duties, thus explaining why he's so intent on killing you. Well, I guess that's "sport". Keep shooting until you trigger the scene in which Ray shoots the gun out of his hand. Meanwhile, the tsunami is getting close!
Gordon takes out a light machine gun out of his van. Shoot the panel out of the way when that happens. A special target will appear on Gordon as he reloads, so zoom in and shoot him once with the shotgun. Do that and he will be stunned, allowing you to look up at the metal panels above you. Notice how they are marked by special targets. Shoot any of the panels to send it down to Gordon.
It's possible to hit two panels at once with the shotgun, dealing even more damage than normal. You should duck quickly since Gordon will fire his machine gun. Hit him once when he reloads again before you look up. Shoot more metal panels to bring them down on him. Gordon should be defeated soon enough, marking the end of the level. Spend BP to raise the magazine capacity of the Handgun III to the third level, allowing it to carry 8 bullets at once.
President of the USA. He had been doing well since taking office 6 months ago, until the disasters struck. His real ability will be revealed from later on. Commander of the operations team. Has taken an oath of loyalty to God and his colonel. What are you people after? Pretty good, ain't ya. Either that or we have got soft. There ain't that many veterans left in the unit.
Most are money grubbing mercenaries now. He shouts, "God damn it! Tell me where she is! You have no idea why we're fighting! You think I'm gonna beg for my life with you, boy? Please, just do what you are gonna do and be done with it.
Meanwhile, Gordon salutes the tsunami that is about to swallow him. And so, Gordon dies in martyrdom. The camera will be focusing on the front of the car in this driving stage, so you will have to be even more careful. If an obstacle is up ahead, a red downward pointing triangle will appear at the bottom of the screen. Steer the car so that it is no longer directly above the triangle to avoid a collision. Since the tsunami is coming right behind you and fast, a single collision can be fatal.
You can't imagine how many times I have died during my first playthrough. Start by staying in the centre of the road, bearing left Ray's left, or the right side of the screen as your car leaps over the first gap in the cracked bridge, returning to the centre when you hear Ray yell, "Move faster! You should be fine if you go straight while holding down the accelerator, although you may have to avoid another yellow car in the way.
After some tries, you would have reached land, triggering a new scene. As the tsunami engulfs the coastal area, Ray races for higher ground. He succeeds. You return to the urban area by AM, landing on the subway tracks at the mouth of the tunnel near Jackson Street station. Now that you are out of the car, turn around and smash the oil drum for a tube of Staminas Run through the flames for two more oil drums with a first aid kit and a slice of water melon inside. Also notice the old lady in need of help, so climb up the stairs to help her.
Rescue Margot Spring The grandma's chest is feeling tight. She collapses. It's a heart attack! Hold the Wii Remote horizontally and watch for the pulse line graph. When the green pulse moves onto the yellow part of the graph, push the Wii Remote downwards to give her a heart massage.
Keep pressing down on her chest, ignoring Ray's intermittent pleas, until her health is at Margot wakes up and says she'll be fine.
Are you sure? Heart attacks are a serious business! Most of the time you still need to get to a hospital fast, even if you are successful in your CPR. Let's reenter the subway. You hear a radio broadcast about the tsunami just now. Climb up the platform to your left to find three boxes, which can be smashed for a packet of crackers, a packer of plasters and survival points.
Smash the bin ahead for more Staminas Jump back down onto the track and smash the bin there for more crackers, before you get back onto the platform on the other side of the rubble to break the bin there too, in which you will find a can of soda. Jump back onto the track and move on to find an injured girl lying there. Rescue Deanna Spies Move Deanna towards the mouth of the subway tunnel, where she will be found by her mom. Your maximum life will be increased as a token of thanks. Jump into the carriage to the left of where you found Deanna and exit through the other side, smashing the rubble for plasters on the way.
Smash the bin on the platform for Staminas Head into the next carriage where you find an injured fireman. Before you see to his injuries, turn around to find a box with survival points inside. Let's help him now. Rescue Silas Norfolk Silas is badly burnt. Spray water on all of the burns to soothe them. Don't bother applying bandages on them.
The fireman gives you some Fire Extinguisher Agent before leaving. Head back to the control room and attempt to leave through the other side. Ray finds a sea of fire, and this ain't good. Left with Steve's lucky charm, an antique compass, Ray felt extremely guilty for not being able to save his friend. One year has passed since Steve's death.
SURGE , an underground Special Forces unit thought to be wiped out, has stolen three nuclear warheads and threatens to detonate them if their demands are not met. Ray then vows to save Lisa as a way of redeeming himself. But wait, catastrophic natural disasters are creeping up around every corner, prompting Ray to realise his survival instincts yet again.

After a long development time, Monolith has been able to offer a great adventure that makes a really convincing use of Wii controls. The game offers an impressive amount of situations, asking for different movements in each occasion which enriches the gameplay and makes it unique.
Unfortunately, visuals are not on par with its quality and the scenarios are too linear and lack variety. Sometimes, it is too obvious that the game was designed for the Asian market. Eurogamer Portugal. What really matters is that Disaster: Day of Crisis is a funny experience and, in some way, can be also attractive right from the beginning, offering an unexpected longevity, thanks to the many difficulty settings and the optional missions.
This was supposed to be the game that convinced core gamers that the Wii is still a platform to be reckoned with.
Unfortunately that's not the case since this is really not a great game for whomever the target audience might be. There is a vast collection of mini games that make out the core gameplay and since most of these are of poor quality the overall experience can't be saved by the few good ones in here.
At best, the fact that the game is not afraid to tackle such a broad range of genres is a good sign the developers are confident enough to branch out, and endeavour to create something truly different.
